We have been traveling lots this summer and we are always on the lookout for new freeze drying recipes. When we were up north and specifically in Duluth Minnesota, we kept seeing porridge on the menus. I ordered some authentic porridge, and I was blown away. It’s rich, filling, creamy and made from ingredients that can easily be freeze dried and/or shelf stable. Early settlers made this from ingredients that could be foraged nearby and then thrown together for a warm and tasty breakfast or meal that would give you lots of good energy to get you through your day. Quite honestly, I get tired of the same ol’ eggs and bacon breakfast and porridge breaks the mold! This was enjoyed by my entire family (a rare event) and will definitely be a regular in our adventures.
